$RIVg is the wrapped governance token of the RIV protocol. While $RIV is the core utility and protocol token, $RIVg gives holders the ability to participate in governance decisions about the protocol. You can acquire $RIVg by staking base $RIV or by buying it directly in the $RIVg/ RIV pool. It is redeemable back to $RIV at a fixed protocol conversion rate.

Staking $RIV means locking your tokens to support the protocol. Staked $RIV serves as the safety layer of the vault system. Before any assets move from the On-Chain Vault to Off-Chain custody, an equivalent amount of $RIV must be staked as accountability. If a transfer is not verified within the required timeframe, the staked $RIV can be slashed. Staking $RIV also gives you access to $RIVg governance tokens.
